If God Is For You

"We know that people who are hurt will hurt others. As a healer we should not feed another ones pain with negative words or action. That does not mean stand there and be insulted, it means be creative in finding ways to deal with someone who is rude or hurtful...Don't let their negative energy hurt or effect you. Recognize what is going on and stay at peace."

~Rekhit Kajara Nia Yaa Nebthet from "Ra Sekhi, Kemetic Reiki"

By: Angela Mayah Solstice

Hello! I hope you are well! I am writing you today from a rainy afternoon in New York. Summer is officially coming to an end and it truly seems as if a new wave of energy has come upon us. I have been in much meditation and prayer riding this wave of powerful insights and reflection since the Solar Eclipse last week. This is not always easy. I constantly have to remind myself, just as soon as I become out of sorts, that God is in control. That I am on the path he has set before me and to continuously disconnect from any thought that would have me to believe otherwise. I am also reading an amazing book by Alice Walker, Now Is The Time To Open Your Heart. Although it is not categorized as an autobiography, I suspect the story is a pilgrimage Alice may have taken to South America to spend time with a Shaman. As always when I’m reading, the story told hit home for me in so many ways. From the grappling with the pain of our ancestors and finding ways to honor and process it all, to the many quips towards anti-feminist ideologies. Yet, the heart of the story is what the Shaman calls entering into the covenant with The Grandmother. It’s explained this way within the book, “And now, perhaps it was time to leave that area of exploration, to enter another: The life of the Virgin, one who is whole unto herself.”

I have been, or better yet I thought, I had already been to this place. I’ve spent several years in celibacy at one point, solely for the purpose of healing my womb and body. Although much healing came forth because of this, I find myself back to this place. Yet, without the need to put forth so much work, but to let God do his work on me. To surrender may be the most complicated thing one will continuously do being on the spiritual journey. To surrender to a plan, a life, and God that is bigger than your self may sound grand, but the actual unraveling and unlearning one must do to get there can be excruciating and exhilarating. If we are to walk entirely within our Divinity and not our ego, or not of other’s fears and projections towards us, it will take courage.

I had to check back in with myself. This past weekend I went back to re-read my own published books and many writings. One, to be sure if I still saw it fitting for others to take a read from its messages, and two, to see if any hypocrisies existed. So many changes have taken place in my life, I had to be reassured that my healing work I give to all of you is still God’s will and meaningful.  Yet most of all, I hope all of you who are reading this are finding hope in such a hopeless time. My prayer is that you find the leaders, teachers, healers, or even friends who are giving you the truth about who you are and about this world. A close friend of mine shared with me that she came across healers and teachers close to her new home in California over the weekend. It had been her prayer that she and her husband find their tribe in their new area, and they did. The tribe of people she found were stationed within a swap meet, teaching and giving Reiki sessions for free. I envisioned people communing and loving on each other within the welcoming atmosphere. I was so happy for my friend that her manifestation of needing to find her tribe happened so quickly.

My faith and happiness rest wholeheartedly in these kinds of stories. I know that what and whom we need in our lives are here, simply waiting for us to arrive. We are by nature and design, peaceful people. We are only angered by the injustices designed to oppress and abuse us or prevent us from achieving our life purpose. Staying in peace is God’s way of sheltering us from this world. To engage in energy outside of peace is to momentarily disconnect from the love God has for our lives. Do not be swayed; do not give in to a life of seemingly struggle and pain. If God is for us, who can be against us? Keep your peace, keep your faith, and follow the path before you!

I Am Here

By: Angela Mayah Solstice

Good Morning! I hope all is well! Today I am writing to you from New York. The weather is finally reflecting summer, and I must say, this is my favorite time of the year! So much is going on right now, physically and spiritually on Earth. All that you see, hear, and feel can be very overwhelming. Looking for signs, searching for answers, yearning for love is all good and well, but I think what you may be looking for is God. Every species, even non-living entities has a root or foundation of some kind. It is needed so one does not completely collapse under the weight of its own being. Today I invite you to begin thinking about how you can create a stronger foundation for yourself. Maybe it can be through cooking and eat more often from home, or celebrating your accomplishments and realizing how you contribute to others. Spiritual tools such as prayer and fasting regularly are a great habit to begin. The concern isn’t so much how, but when? When are you going to decide that you are in control of your own state of mind and happiness? Do you find it amazing those who are infirmed or imprisoned can somehow find a tremendous amount of gratefulness and peace within a dire situation? So why not those of you who are walking, breathing, and living freely every day find the will power and the motivation to add life unto your life? Those of you who know inside of you dwells a spirit of love, creativity, compassion, and greatness; Will you begin to manifest this in your everyday life? Act as the person you know you are? God is calling to you, speaking to you, and not from a far off place, but nestled safely in your heart, in your very being. May you center yourself, quiet yourself, calm your jumpy spirit and simply tell God, I Am Here.

Blessings, Love, and Well Wishes! Until next time!

Mary's House, a safe house for women, has grand opening

Janice Chambers believes the women who died on Imperial Avenue did not get the help they needed.

The thought that someone could have saved them came back to her again and again.
She knew she had to do something.

Chambers is a chemical dependency specialist and project director at Cleveland UMADAOP, Urban Minority Alcohol and Drug Abuse Outreach Programs. A group of women she directed there talked about the murders, reliving their own hard times; memories triggered by the deaths of women who could have been their sisters, neighbors, friends.

The women gathered weekly and talked about what they could do to help other women at risk of becoming victims.

As she thought about a solution, Chambers stared at the abandoned home across the street, boarded up and ignored, just like the women who perished at the hands of Anthony Sowell.

And that's when she knew what they had to do. They had to buy that old house. Rebuild it. And make it a safe house for women who need a hot shower, a meal and a little help putting their lives back together.

On Monday, nearly three years after those meetings in February 2011, the house officially opened its doors.

You're A Healer!

    "the gift of healing"
By: Angela Mayah Solstice

I know I use the word "healing" a lot. Yet, perhaps you're wondering, "What exactly does healing mean?" I personally believe a "healing" can take place at anytime, anyplace, and by anyone. I've had a healing in my kitchen at 2 am moved by the music and dancing in the dim light. I've had a healing talking to a complete stranger whose energy moved me in some way. I believe a healing is when a shift happens in your thinking that causes your Soul to be stirred up. Oprah calls it an "aha" moment. Your preacher may call it the moving of the Holy Spirit. Spiritualist may describe it as being Enlightened. Many times, without strenuous effort, some sort of healing is taking place in your life. Yet when you are thinking of making some serious changes in your life Healing takes a more focused and heralded effort.

I like the approach of the 12-Step program to take it one day at a time. Healing does indeed have emotional and physical side effects, but a constant feeling of anxiousness or sadness does not have to be the experience. Healing when done with an earnest intent and self-compassion, can be a gentle journey. You don't have to be hard on yourself and surely you don't need to let others be hard on you. In fact, most of us can do our healing work in the privacy of our own homes. If we are diligent, we will find a competent counselor, program, or a local self-help group to support our healing work. We pray, we fast, we meditate, we exercise, we meet new friends, we read, we journal --we fight to get a glimpse of the other side. We cry, we sleep, we let go, we get angry, we get desperate, we hang on--and fight some more. What we don't do is give up on yourselves

We keep Healing, we keep growing, and we use all of our tools interchangeably. Until there comes that glorious moment where one day at a time has added up to some very impressive healing work that has manifested a beautiful change into our lives. That is what Healing is and YOU have the manifestation power to heal your own life. You are programmed to heal yourself. Just like when you buy a new car it is built with everything it needs to drive and operate. You may need to poke around or read the manual to figure it all out--but you know everything is already there. Well, my friend, I'm telling you everything is already in YOU. You may have to poke around that mind and heart of yours or read up on a few books to help bring yourself into remembrance of what you're really made of--but as the Bible says, you are Beautifully and Wonderfully made! You are here for a purpose and the first task at hand is remembering you are one fine automobile! Ha!

You have one beautiful Soul Engine rumbling on the inside of you. The world is waiting for you to pop your top and show it off! You may be in the Healing factory right now trying to understand all the parts of your life and how they fit together. You might have to tell your supervisor (the family & authority figures in your life), your co-workers (friends), and impatient and judgmental car buyers (the world) to back off for a minute! Take as much time as you need. Don't hold yourself to a standard of perfection but one of Grace. Remember healing is a life long journey of peeling back the layers again and again. You are designed to change and be dynamic.  So in the meantime, get to work and begin to Heal your life!

While In Pursuit...

By: Angela Mayah Solstice

I go over my life goals quite frequently. Depending on my mental state, meditating upon them can bring about a plethora of feelings. My newly created goals were set almost a year ago. I didn’t quite lose the 20 pounds I dated as accomplishing within the first six months. Actually, I gained. I saw how other goals were in the works and how some didn’t quite connect with me (funny thing is the goals I felt less connected to were goals about my self-care i.e. hair and skin—imagine that! Keeping up with my hair and being attentive to my skin). The main thing I did recognize when looking over my goals was that they hadn’t lost their magic. My goals still sing a song straight to my soul. They uplift me and motivate me. They are ever present and never changing. I trust them. I trust they are guiding me and holding me steady. They make me feel safe. They make me feel like I have a purpose in life. They allow me to live and to grow, then come on back home to them again. They allow me to laugh at myself—which is the total opposite of how I am when in active pursuit—which is, I'm hard on myself. I look over my goals sometimes and say to myself, “No wonder it, he, or she didn’t feel right! They were not part of this plan! Ha! Or I say, “Oh, I know why I didn’t lose the weight off the rip, I was supposed to have learned how to love my body regardless of its size or shape. Again, imagine that your life purpose standing strong waiting on YOU. Allowing free will, but never letting you get too far away. Allowing you to get the oh so important Healing and Lessons that you NEED. Your Destiny awaits you my friend, more than you’ll ever know. State your Purpose. Set your Goals. You WILL get there, but allow yourself some Grace in the meantime. Allow yourself to grow into your dreams. Allow yourself to be accepting of Who you are and Where you are in life. Allow yourself to be YOU. Knowing that you are right where you need to be today!

Not the Time, Not the Place

By: Angela Mayah Solstice

One of my favorite gospel singers has a song called, “Not the Time, Not the Place.” The song carries a message of not giving up hope. Where you are in life right now is not your ultimate destiny and God is mending the broken pieces. Keep the faith, that is my message to you today! It’s not the time or the place to give up on yourself. Your prayers, your worry, your pain are not in vain. God is with you and there is absolutely nothing you could do that would have him leave you. The pain and struggle you find yourself in are all temporary. It takes tremendous courage to go within and grow—God knows that. He hears you, feels you, and loves you.

God connects to us mainly through our hearts, thoughts, and energy. Connect the best way you know how and stop being so hard on yourself! Continue to grow and don’t you dare give in!

It’s All One-Day-At-A-Time,
Angela
